Steve has been an integral part of our tours since they launched in 2015 and has become part of the Emmerdale family. Now he’s hit celebrity status just like the stars of the show, appearing in the papers and on TV to share his dedication to the soap, his amazing collection of memorabilia and some of the moments that made him fall in love with our small corner of the Dales.
In the last week, Steve has appeared in the Independent, Daily Star and lots of regional titles, as well as on BBC Look North (scroll to 17:01).
For many, working five days a week in a high-pressured job would mean a weekend of TV binging, pub lunches and leisurely countryside strolls. But for one of the UK’s biggest soap superfans, that couldn’t be further from reality.
Steve is a self-proclaimed soap obsessive with a merchandise collection to rival a small museum. Street signs, historic scripts and even a few coffin plaques used in the final scenes of some of TV land’s most iconic characters make up a long list of keepsakes.
While most are still asleep, Steve wakes at 3.45am each Saturday morning to begin the journey to the set. Having begun as a tour guide, he’s now a duty manager meaning he must dress the village ready for the first guests of the day and turn the on-site production suite into a visitor centre.
By 8.45am, the first fans are in the village. But, despite having walked the route thousands of times before, it always remains a special experience.
Steve’s rubbed shoulders with soap royalty during the hugely successful ‘Star Tours’, with Jeff Hordley, Danny Miller and Michelle Hardwick among the stars he’s supported.
Despite the early starts, Steve has no plans to slow down. Now approaching the tenth anniversary of the first-ever tour, in which Steve led friends and family around the village, he’s looking forward to many more years of Guided Tours and Star Tours while making the most of his well-deserved Sunday rests.
Anyone wanting to follow in Steve’s footsteps, can book a tour at the Emmerdale Village Tour here.
The magic of the Coronation Street and Emmerdale tours is more than what you see – it’s the warmth of reliving shared history with loved ones, just as you’ve done on the sofa for decades prior. This Christmas season, choose a unique experience that lets your loved ones immerse themselves in their favourite stories and enjoy a day they will talk about for years to come.

What an incredible evening at Weetwood Hall in Leeds! Fans were treated to a truly special night with the one and only Claire King, the iconic Kim Tate from Emmerdale.
There’s a reason it’s called ‘God’s Own County’ – and the great and good of TV and film clearly agree.
